What is best & easiest way to get engine oil out of a concrete aggregate brown pea gravel driveway?

have heard that you can use simple dishwash soap and scrub it and it comes right out? or why someone thought that to be true?

engine oil has been on brown pea gravel aggregate driveway for about a couple of weeks.

what if just paint over it with some sealer?

  1. Dawn dish detergent is your first option, being a chemist I can get it out but you’d be in a lot of trouble with the EPA.

  2. Gunk or other engine cleaner. Coat it on, brush it in, leave for a while, then wash it down with soapy water. If necessary, do it again.

  3. Dissolving the oil is fairly easy with a solvent. Removing the ultra-fine particles (the black stuff) is really difficult.

  4. Pour some boiling eater on it, sprinkle cheap biological soap powder and scrub in, leave overnight then more boiling water and it should be gone.
