Because they like the damp and water is wet 🙂
When it’s dry they sort of hibernate, they do not like dryness, so rain and damp brings them out http://www.backyardnature.net/snail_sl.htm
Believe it or not, they drown in too much water, so while its raining they go and hide. They only come out when its damp (I think).
Because they want to leave you slug kisses.
